History of Kingston Construction Ltd.
Ben and Carole Backman established Kingston Construction in 1962, from residential and commercial projects to the professional and multifaceted organization that it is today. Their values and commitment to quality, innovation and fairness are embedded in the company.
Kingston soon established itself as one of British Columbia’s premiere bridge building contractors in addition to establishing a niche in the construction and maintenance within the pulp and paper industry throughout British Columbia.
Our expertise and list of accomplishments have grown to include several hundred bridge structures. Our industrial project portfolio now includes port and bulk handling facilities, rail and intermodal, waste water and water treatment, power generating and transmission with an emphasis on sustainable and green energy.
Our dedicated, disciplined team of knowledgeable construction professionals is proud of the many milestone projects we have completed over the years. These include seismic upgrades to landmark bridges such as Lions Gate, Second Narrows, Queensborough, Oak Street, Knight Street and Mission bridges. We have also played a significant role in the construction of the Skytrain, Millennium and Canada Lines and infrastructure projects including the original Sea to Sky, Coquihalla, and Inland Island Highway.
